Providing Spinal Injury support in England
Life after a spinal injury can feel overwhelming, and adjusting to what comes next can take time. At acuity care, we’re here to support you through that journey, with flexible, specialised care shaped around you and the life you want to live.
Our nurse-led teams provide specialist support for complex clinical needs, including conditions such as autonomic dysreflexia and airway management, while also offering practical and emotional support that helps build confidence, independence and connection with everyday life. We support people at every stage — from a new diagnosis through to changes in long-standing care arrangements.
As members of the Spinal Injuries Association, and through the use of AI-assisted technology, we make sure support is safe, informed and responsive. Above all, our focus is on helping people adapt, regain control and live well following a spinal injury.

What we do:

The Full Spinal Injury Care Package
We know that inviting care into your home is a big and very personal decision. That’s why we take great care in building dedicated care teams that are tailored not only to your spinal injury–related clinical needs, but also to your personality, routines and lifestyle.
Whether you’re setting up care for the first time or moving from an existing provider, we manage the whole process for you. Our teams are experienced in handling complex transitions, including TUPE, helping ensure continuity and stability, so you can keep the carers you know, trust and feel comfortable with.
Care Team and Recruitment Management
Our commitment doesn’t stop once a care team is in place. We continue to support and review every package through regular check-ins, structured supervision and ongoing quality assurance, helping care stay consistent and high quality.
Our clinicians receive specialist, role-specific training informed by the latest research and best practice through our partnership with the Spinal Injuries Association. Alongside this, we use AI-assisted technology to support monitoring and oversight, helping us respond quickly and providing reassurance that care remains safe, well supported and delivered to a consistently high standard.

Transition and Accessibility Support
A spinal injury transition can feel complex, and we’re committed to making that journey as smooth and supported as possible. We help you move from medical settings into independent homecare, whether that means supporting you in your current home or helping you find the right property.
We carry out a full environmental needs assessment to understand what adjustments or adaptations may be needed, making sure your home supports your rehabilitation goals and everyday independence. Our focus is on creating a setting that helps you feel confident, supported and able to live as freely and independently as possible.
Complex Care Administration
Spinal injuries often involve complex clinical care, and having the right support in place can make a real difference. Our registered nurse-led teams have experience supporting a wide range of high-acuity needs, including airway care, autonomic dysreflexia management and pressure care. We also provide specialist support with bowel and bladder care, medication and nutrition. By delivering care in settings that promote choice, independence and everyday living, we help ensure complex medical needs are met safely and effectively, while supporting comfort, confidence and quality of life.

I really struggled with the prospect of needing carers in our home at the beginning of my wife’s care journey, but now I couldn’t do it without them. The support team has become a trusted and respectful presence in our lives.

Funding Support
We know the world of care and support funding can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate. We work with Integrated Care Board’s (ICB’s), Local Authorities (LA’s) and Case Managers directly to provide the personalised care and resources required for each individual.
